The market fountain was created in 1978 by the artist Karl Ulrich Nuß from Strümpfelbach. Atop the fountain column stand the fish man and fish woman, personifications of the Neckar and Fils rivers, symbolizing their confluence in Plochingen. The column itself is adorned with reliefs illustrating significant events in Plochingen's history.
