In 1306, a church or chapel in honor of Saint Nicholas was mentioned for the first time. This church was renovated in the 15th century. The chapel of Arburch is mentioned in a tithe register from 1553. The exact year the current church was built is not known. The year 1783 is assumed. In any case, it seems certain that the church was built during the term of office of the pastor Aegidius Schneider (1764–1799), who financed the construction of the church in part from his private assets.
