Once there was a sanatorium for the poor with nervous disorders. The land for its construction was donated by Feliks Bobrowski, after whose death the initiative to build the sanatorium was supported by his widow - Karolina Bobrowska. It was from her name that the town took its name. The sanatorium, established in 1911, operated until 1947, when Dr. Ludwika Feist-Knoffowa - persuaded by Mira Zimińska-Sygietyńska - decided to sign a contract with the founders of "Mazowsze" and give the first floor of the building to the children from the Complex. From that moment on, Karolin has been invariably associated with Mazowsze.
