These are two popular and attractive papier-mâché characters who parade during the city's festivities and represent a Burgos couple.
They parade together, she wiggling and with an elegant walk, accompanied by a "Pitero", who with his whistle and his drum marks the rhythm of the graceful dances with which they enliven the Corpus parades, the Curpillos and the festivities of San Lesmes and San Pedro and San Pablo, making them one of the most captivating characters in Burgos.
He covers his head with a large furry hat and is dressed in a white shirt, a red sash and a long brown cloak that reaches almost to his ankles. In addition, in his right hand he carries an ash stick, which is interpreted as a symbol of authority, perhaps wanting to represent a mayor of the mountains of Burgos. She, combed in a chignon, dresses like a typical peasant with an open doublet, with velvet collar and sleeves, a white jacket with a wide brown skirt, a long apron and a serrano scarf on her shoulders. She is also bejeweled with ball earrings to match the necklace from which a cross hangs.
