Frederick II founded Friedrichshagen in 1753 and, due to the demand for silk, had 1,200 mulberry trees planted in Friedrichshagen, whose leaves served as food for the silkworms. Caterpillar breeding failed. When the market square was redesigned, mulberry trees were planted again to commemorate history. The fountain consists of stylized silkworm cocoons made of concrete and mist nozzles. The distributed water mist stylizes the silk threads and is distributed between the "silkworm cocoons" and is intended to cool the air in the surrounding area.

    Mulberry Grove and Mist Fountain

Due to the growing demand for silk in Europe, around 1,200 mulberry trees were planted in Friedrichshagen alone, on Bölschestraße, for silkworm breeding.

See photo of the stele in the market square for more information.
