In the north-east of the Småland municipality of Alvesta, in the church village of Moheda, stands Moheda Kyrka, which dates back to the late 12th century. It is one of the oldest and best-preserved medieval churches in the diocese of Växjö. Around 1570, Moheda Kyrka was damaged during a Danish military campaign. The upper half of the church tower burned down during the campaign, all of the medieval church treasures were stolen and the church was used as a stable for horses during the occupation. It was not until 1915 that the church tower was restored to its original height, while the church bells were until then in a wooden bell tower that was built as a temporary solution in 1665 and is still located on the east side of the church today.
The wooden carved figure of Jesus dates from the late 15th century.
A checkerboard stone is located in the southeast corner of the nave
