Tips

  • Burial ground from the Iron Age. Together with the larger burial ground north of Kungsgärden (=King's Estate), it is evidence that Ottenby was densely populated in the Iron Age. Where Kungsgärden is today, traces of a settlement from 450 - 880 AD have been found. The most striking features are two upright stones, called Kungsstenarna. They mark a burial site. According to legend, the name Kungsstenarna refers to two kings from the Upland Ynglinga family.
