Holwert is a village in the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân in the Dutch province of Friesland.

In the north of Holwert there is a pier that is the most important ferry connection to and from Ameland. This pier was built in 1872 and has been rebuilt several times since then. In Holwert there are milk pipelines that transport the milk from the farmers of Ameland to Holwert.

There's not much to see here: a pier with a view of Ameland, a ferry, and a not-so-nice restaurant. But it's better to stop here than in the next town, Holwerd: there's nothing there except a Spar supermarket with a coffee machine.
