Saint-Samson Cathedral was never fully completed, at least not in all its parts.

Construction began in the 13th century, and the choir was largely finished by around 1265, as were the nave and parts of the aisles.

However, the north tower was never finished. Only four floors plus the ground floor were built; it remained incomplete due to a lack of funds.

The south tower is complete and was built between the 13th and 17th centuries.
