For the design, Observatorium was inspired by the Duisburg plateau, the surroundings and the surrounding landscape with its sunken roads. The artistic intervention stems from the artists' research into the uniqueness of the place. The result is a three-dimensional logo of the geological landscape surrounding the plateau. Ooghoogte is considered the eye that literally and figuratively rests on the land. In the artwork, the visitor is also in the eye of the landscape. His perception is the pupil of the visual beacon.
