Hohenentringen Castle stands picturesquely on a wooded foothill of the Schönbuch Nature Park high above the village of Entringen, which is so friendly in the Ammer Valley. The coats of arms and writings of the former lords of the castle, painted on the wall in one of the three dining rooms, prompt the history-conscious visitor to ask about the castle's past. The castle complex was first mentioned in a document in 1293/95, but originally probably dates from the 11th century. It has natural protection on three sides due to steep slopes and a moat on the east side, formerly with a drawbridge. Today's mighty building was built around 1720. Today's main building is a three-story stone building with a large hipped roof and a semicircular stair tower. The two farm buildings at the entrance to the courtyard date from 1724 and 1727. A well was found to the south-east, from which a secret passage led into the castle at a depth of six meters.
