The ship Volta, in August 1991, was the protagonist of a significant event in the history of Albania and Albanian immigration to Italy: the landing in Puglia, at the port of Bari, of more than 20,000 migrants fleeing towards Italy. This event remains today the largest arrival of migrants from a single ship in the history of Italy.
