The Keyhole is a crucial point on the Keyhole Route to the summit. Located at around 13,150 feet, this rock formation signals the transition from a relatively easy hike to a more technical and challenging climb. Helmets and equipment are advised for this class 3. Climbers navigate through several difficult sections after the Keyhole, including the "Ledges" and "Trough," before reaching the summit. Due to its exposure and difficulty, the Keyhole Route demands careful attention and is not recommended for inexperienced hikers or those unprepared for alpine conditions.
