From 1892 onwards, the new stone bridge over the Saale was built as an arched bridge with its characteristic turrets on the bridge pillars (inaugurated on November 24, 1893). Rafting on the Saale finally stopped around 1910. The flood of 1890 led to numerous dams being built on the upper reaches of the Saale over the next few decades.
The total length of the bridge is 137 m with spans of 24.5 m in the bank area and two times 27.0 m in the middle of the river (Wikipedia).
