The bathing mermaid lies quietly and serenely next to the pumping station in the fishing village of Greetsiel. It was set up in June 2019 by the interest group for the promotion of Greetsiel, the Greetsiel tourist association, the Krummhörn municipal building yard and the drainage association. The sculpture, which weighs around 150 kilos, was designed and created by the well-known artist Christel Lechner. It is supposed to show the "lived life" of everyday people and is referred to by her as "The Lying Woman". The donor of the work of art does not want to be named.
