Mosbach, a medium-sized town between Heidelberg and Heilbronn, is not directly on the Neckar but has excellent connections to the Neckar Valley via the Elztal cycle path. The old town is relatively completely preserved and in summer there is usually something going on, even if it is just a visit to the ice cream parlor on Ludwigsplatz. Just take a look.
