De Geul is an elongated valley between two rows of dunes on the southwest side of the Mokbaai. The area was created when the Onrust sandbank grew on Texel at the beginning of the 20th century. There is a lake in the Geul, with a viewpoint on the side of Mokbaai. From there you can see the spoonbill colony. Many birds live in the reed belt around the lake, including water rails, little grebes and marsh harriers. There is a large colony of gulls on the west side of De Geul.

Beautiful place to experience the vastness of Texel. Stop for a moment and breathe in the fresh sea air before continuing.
