In 828 AD, Einhard, the confidant of Emperor Charles, transferred the relics of the holy martyrs Peter and Marcellinus from Steinbach near Michelstadt to Obermühlheim, today's Seligenstadt, and passed by the Mosbach church and a nun experienced a miraculous healing
(according to tradition)
From around 1218, the Knights of St. John took over the existing monastery and the Knights of St. John commandery was dissolved in 1806.
