From 2002 to 2004, the two piers at the southern exit of the canal into the lagoon were modernized and significantly extended for around 30 million euros as an important hydraulic engineering measure in the region. The new eastern pier is around 430 m long, the western pier 550 m, and each has a new pier light at its southeast end. The two 25 m high towers of the gate light at the previous southern exit of the canal remained in use.[6]

The path leads along the water, where you can see a few seagulls and ships. As soon as you have completed the first part of the path, you will find a pipeline, which is also used by ships from time to time, which you can also observe well. Shortly after that, you drive over the pier on the way to the lighthouse. It is very windy there :) but it is still very nice to be able to look out over the Baltic Sea.
When you arrive at the lighthouse, you can move around on the platform and take great photos.:) You can also climb the lighthouse using a ladder.
All in all, a great excursion destination that is always worth it :)
