This is a beautiful and memorable place for a Peace Tree. May he form many annual rings in peace.

The text of the inscription reads: "In Kiev/Ukraine, the site of a former camp for German prisoners of war was transformed into a park in the 1950s. The grounds of the arboretum also served the war for decades: as an airfield in World War II, then as an American military camp and camp for German prisoners of war. One of the survivors of the Kiev captivity picked up a chestnut tree in the Ukrainian park in 1999. From this grew this tree, which bears witness here in the Arboretum, where trees from all over the world stand peacefully side by side, that enmity between peoples can be overcome.”
