Nearing the summit at Back Tor these stones are a nice feature to stop and admire the view, Also the point at which the Dukes Road Bridleway becomes a rougher bedrock surface leading onto the boggy moorland which is paved with stone flags

At the Cartledge Stones there is a short & very steep section where you will need to manhandle your bike over the rocks. Alternatively downhill there are lines steep down through the peaty moorland.
