The more than 12 ha comprehensive, belonging to the district of Wannsee district Zehlendorf Steinstücken settlement is located southwest of Kohlhasenbrück on the outskirts of Berlin. From 1945-71 Steinstücke was the only inhabited exclave of West Berlin in the Soviet occupation zone (SBZ) or the GDR.

The Mauerwerg is a bit confusing at this point - Steinstücke was a West Berlin enclave to the east. The wall path leads in and out again. On my annual tour of the Berlin Wall I always leave this corner.

Directly at the "Kätchenweg" bus stop there are steles with explanations about the former Steinstücke exclave. The settlement, which belongs to the Zehlendorf district, was the only inhabited exclave in West Germany in the Soviet occupation zone between 1945 and 1971. The steles themselves provide more detailed information.
ATTENTION: Our bike crew got lost for a short time at this point. The tour continues along Bäkestrasse, the dangling over Machnower Strasse can be ignored.
