    Stift Dürnstein is a former monastery in Dürnstein in the Wachau region of Lower Austria. Today the buildings and the large property belong to the Augustinian Canons' Monastery in Herzogenburg, which also oversees the parish of Dürnstein. The tower of the collegiate church with its blue and white coloring is considered the symbol of the Wachau.       History

      During the 11th century, the Kuenringers came to Austria from the Bavarian-Saxon region and received large areas around Eggenburg and Gobelsburg as imperial fiefs.
