The Bismarck Column on Hammelsberg (Hamberg) between Schönningstedt and Krabbenkamp in Schleswig-Holstein is one of the numerous monuments erected in honor of Otto von Bismarck during the German Empire.
The square tower, measuring approximately 5 m x 5 m, stands on a terrace, is approximately 19 m high, and tapers towards the top.
The tower near Aumühle was financed with funds from the German Student Union.
The foundation stone was laid on June 21, 1901, and completed in 1903.
The tower was inaugurated on June 21, 1903, the summer solstice holiday.

Cycling

The column has now been renovated and is ideal for a rest. From here you have a wonderful view of the landscape. Although the place is right on the street, it is quite quiet here. I stop here several times a week with my bike and enjoy this beautiful place!

Road cycling

In the middle of nowhere a gigantic building suddenly stands - the research on the internet showed that it is one of many Bismarck monuments - basic form approx. 5x5 m and approx. 19 m high. The completion was in 1903 after almost two years of construction. There are nearly 200 towers of this kind in Germany - on the top there are each a large fire bowl. Since 1980, the tower is a listed building.
