Here you will find a really beautiful stretch of the Ijse (a draft in my opinion). The river splits here after some bends, forms a pool/circle and is led through some old brick constructions. A wonderful spot with the sound of the water and opportunities to get to the water. There is even a swing so people will play there sometimes.

What is that construction now? I haven't found a conclusive explanation anywhere. In a report for the Flemish Water Company, a section on the archaeological value of this wider area simply refers to a "historic brick construction".

The explanation can probably be sought in the evolution of the environment of the Margijsbos, which belonged to the same family as the castle (now it is more fragmented). After all, there were more fences back then and the course of the Ijse was also changed. Anyway: really enjoyed it (on a hot day).
