Hiking Highlight (Segment)
Recommended by Jamie S.
The Kerby Peak Trail is about 6.5 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 2,700 feet. As you hike this steep, challenging trail, you pass through forests of Douglas fir, ponderosa pine, and madrone, with increasingly unobstructed views of panoramic views of the Illinois Valley and the Siskiyou Mountains as you climb higher and higher out of the trees. Geologically, the Siskiyou Mountains are among Oregon's oldest, featuring serpentine soils that support unique plant communities.
