The St. Vitus Church is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to St. Vitus in the Frisian village of Blauwhuis. The church was built in 1869-1871 according to a design by government architect P.J.H. Cuypers. The supervisor, C.H. Peters, later also became government architect.
The three-aisled cross basilica in neo-Gothic style has a front tower with a needle spire. Both the main tower and the roof turret have an octagonal spire between four gables. This is an element that Cuypers used more often, as well as the alternation of heavier and lighter columns in the interior. Nevertheless, both this alternating system and the shape of the spiers are unusual for neo-Gothic churches in the Netherlands. Cuypers is said to have been inspired by English Victorian church architecture for the design.
