Until 1455, the Dietmannsried parish belonged to the Ottobeuren monastery, after which it changed to the Kempten prince monastery. The core of the church is likely to be late Gothic. In the years 1588 and 1679 to 1681 the church was rebuilt. The church building was extended to the west in 1755. A year later, in 1756, Franz Georg Hermann and Franz Josef Hermann finished the painting and furnishing. In 1810 the church burned down completely, with most of the furnishings destroyed. During the restoration phase, the church tower roof was also redesigned, with the onion dome being replaced by the octagonal tent roof. The painting from 1859 to 1862 was painted over during a renovation in 1956/1957 and exposed again during a renewed renovation in 1985/1986.
