The monument to Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, was unveiled in 2010. It was created by Kraków sculptors Robert Dyrcz and Jacek Gruszecki. The monument stands in the place where for several decades there was a power transformer, the so-called mushroom, a popular meeting place for Zielona Góra residents.
Bacchus is one of the symbols of Zielona Góra. Legend has it that when he was murdered by the Titans, Athena sprinkled his blood on Europa. Wherever the drops of blood fell, lush vines grew. One drop fell in the north of the continent, near Zielona Góra.

Statue of Bacchus, the Greek god of fertility, wild nature, vines and wine. He is one of the two patrons of Zielona Góra. The monument was unveiled in 2010. The monument initiated the custom of erecting the so-called "Bachusics", i.e. small sculptures (approx. 50 cm high) depicting Bacchus (or Bacchus's children) in various poses, but always associated with wine.
