The abbey of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme is the oldest in the diocese of Amiens. The monastic community founded by Saint Valery in the 7th century was inspired by Columbanism. She mainly owned land in the surrounding area, in Artois and Flanders, but also in Brittany and England. It disappeared during the French Revolution. The abbey church sold became a stone quarry. Today only the convent house remains, private property. In the park you can still see various architectural elements (classified MH) and its checkerboard surrounding wall (flint and limestone).
