This gem of late Gothic architecture was built in the 15th century together with the citizens' hospital, which was built at a right angle, for innocent citizens of the town of Braunau who had fallen into need.

The architect can be found in the school environment of the famous Hans von Burghausen. The church has high, pointed-arched windows, buttresses in front of the wall and a high roof.

Inside we can recognize it as a fine example of the so-called hexagonal churches, which are common in the Braunau district and in the neighboring Bavarian region, and admire its beautiful net rib vault made of regular diamonds.

The altars were created in the late 17th century by the Baroque artist Sebastian Högenauer. Johannes Froschauer painted the altarpieces: "The Descent of the Holy Spirit" and "The Ascension of Christ".
