Çine Stream is a 359 km long stream fed by Sarıgerme Creek and Karagedik Mountains in the east of Yatağan district of Muğla and flowing into Büyük Menderes River. Its upper parts are located in Muğla province. One of its initial branches extends to Bayır and Yeşilyurt plains. In fact, Kazan Pond was built on this branch near Bayır town. It takes its name from Çine district of Aydın province.
The Çine Stream valley, where the Muğla-Aydın highway passes, is a natural wonder with interesting appearances such as gneiss, fine-grained schist and quartzite rocks formed by cracks caused by sunlight and attracts a lot of attention from tourists. In this region called Gökbel, there is also a bridge on Çine Stream from ancient times, known locally as İnce Köprü (Ince Bridge), which is still suitable for pedestrians today. The natural values of Gökbel Valley will be partially lost due to the ongoing Çine Dam. For the construction of this dam, a beautiful road was built following the valley from a higher altitude.
The ancient name of Çine Stream was Marsyas. It was named after Marsyas, the unfortunate satyr of Ancient Greek mythology.
