Memorial on a bench in front of St. John's Church for the founder of SOS Children's Villages. Hermann Gmeiner was born on June 23, 1919, in Alberschwende, Austria, into a large farming family in Vorarlberg. In 1949, Hermann Gmeiner founded the SOS Children's Villages association. That same year, he laid the foundation stone for the first house, called "Haus Frieden," in Imst, Tyrol.

Definitely walk through the gorge.

Caution: Even in good weather, parts of it are very slippery. Those with a fear of heights might have trouble here, as it's quite steep.

No access for strollers or people with walking difficulties.

The views of the forces of nature are truly impressive. Highly recommended.

There's a parking lot just three minutes before the gorge entrance, where we parked for a €3 day ticket.
