"The military might of the Spanish between the 16th and 18th centuries meant that Spain was able to become a world power and colonise much of the New World. There are few better places to learn about Spain's military past than at the Baluard de Sant Jaume in Ibiza. Located in the historic Dalt Vila district of Ibiza Town, the Baluard de Sant Bernat is one of the oldest military bastions in the Balearic Islands. The bastion is now open to visitors and displays military uniforms, armour and artillery from the 16th to 18th centuries.
