            With the construction of St. Georg in 1905, the Catholics in the Hoppegarten area received their own place of worship. Three years earlier, the Union Club donated approximately 1 1/2 acres of land to the community without any conditions in order to be able to build a church in Hoppegarten. In December of the following year, the design by the Berlin architect Paul Franke was approved and the contract was awarded to the Büttner company in Werneuchen. The foundation stone was laid on July 3rd, 1904 and the consecration (liturgical consecration) took place on March 5th, 1905 by Army Bishop Heinrich Vollmar.
