The layout of the market square dates back to the 14th century. In the middle is the Holy Trinity Column, which was donated in the middle of the 18th century by a Hallstatt salt-making couple. Plague columns, also called Holy Trinity columns, are monuments that commemorate the time of the plague and were donated as a thank you that the plague was over.
