The Gallus Tower was built in 1343.
After a terrible flood in 1342, the Gallus Tower was built as a protective wall against the water of the Rhine. The loopholes that can be found in the tower indicate that the tower was included in the concept of city fortifications.
After preparatory planning and discussions with the authorities took place from May to June 1972, the guild council decided on September 11, 1972 to expand the tower. The excavation work was finished in October 1972.
The Gallus Tower can also be rented for festivities.

The Gallusturm is not only an imposing building directly on the Rhine, but has also been recognized by NABU Baden-Württemberg as a "swallow-friendly house".
