The Armoured Fighting Vehicle School of Gunnery was established at Lulworth Camp on 2 February 1918. The Centre has trained members of all three armed Services. The primary focus is on the Army, with soldiers from the Royal Armoured Corps, the Royal Artillery, the Royal Engineers and the Infantry undertaking individual training on the full range of armoured fighting vehicles, but armoured vehicle training for the Royal Marines takes place there as well.

It's not every day that you're cycling along and spy a few massive tanks loitering on the side of the road. Ride near Lulworth Camp though and you're guaranteed to see at least these ones on display, if not some real ones crossing roads.

This is the home of the British Army's Armoured Fighting Vehicle Gunnery School. As a result, the actual ranges themselves, whilst very pleasant to ride across, are closed sometimes for live practice. These display tanks are impressive and serve as a warning to always check the firing times and area for warning flags!
