In June 2015, on the initiative of Captain Henk Stoppels, the Meeresblick stele was opened in Norddeich harbor. Here, relatives have the opportunity to commemorate their deceased loved ones.

The memorial consists of a granite stele on which plaques with the deceased's details are attached. In front of it is a white granite bench to provide a place for longer memories.

So that mourners can consciously direct their thoughts to the MS Groninger burial area, a map shows them the right direction.
