Ascending Els Angels from the west, heading out of Girona, is one of the most popular climbs in the region.

Simply take the GIV-6703, leave La Creueta and carry on east following the signs for Els Angels. The first kilometer is quite gentle, but kilometers two and three may seem like a bit of a drag. It does get easier after that until the last couple of kilometers before the summit.

The hardest bit about climbing Els Angels is probably the length of the climb, just over ten kilometers, but the easier gradients in the middle really allow you to take a breath and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.

From Girona it's a little longer but easier, from Madremanya, shorter but harder. Can get busy with traffic, best first thing in the morning. Views, drinks, food and toilets at the top. Descending to Madremanya the road is super bumpy!

A real highlight of a climb in Girona. It undulates and twists towards the top with views back down to Girona as you ascend. If you make it up the top for sunrise, you will be rewarded with a beautiful view out towards the Gulf of Roses. It's worth giving yourself a break up here to soak it up, before descending down to the little old village, Madremanya.
