There is a special statue in the village of Keldonk. It's a man with a shovel in his hand. It's as if he's throwing the sand into the air with his shovel. His name is "The Channel Digger". The canal diggers were foreigners. They came with their shovel and dug the Zuid-Willemsvaart by hand. Thanks to this canal, this region became easily accessible. People wanted to live and work near the canal. And all thanks to King Willem I.
