The largest skate maker in IJlst and probably also in the Netherlands was Nooitgedagt. Nooitgedagt has been producing skates for a century. The name recognition of Nooitgedagt mainly stems from the production of these skates. This in itself is strange, because the production of skates was only a by-product.
