The Kerssenbohm windmill was built in 1849 and was in operation for 100 years - although from 1872 it was powered by steam and from 1913 by electricity. The mill technology dates from 1900 and is very well preserved.

In 2019 the mill was considered no longer restorable. The German Foundation for Monument Protection ensured its preservation.

The Lower Rhine Castles & Palaces Route runs for approximately 50 kilometers through the Lower Rhine plain. It connects the towns of Kevelaer, Weeze, Goch, and Geldern.
