Where does the name "Forgotten Street" come from? It's quite simple: during a major city fire in 1783, which destroyed large parts of Attendorn, the fire "forgot" this street, so to speak. That's why the oldest houses in the city are now located here and in the Spindelsburggraben. The fire was started by the mentally ill Anna Katharina Schnütgen, who set fire to her house, which led to the devastating city fire, which destroyed 246 houses, the parish church with tower and choir, the town hall, the monastery church and the Franciscan monastery.
