In 1902, a paper factory was built in Heidenau, which developed into a center of Saxon paper manufacturing, which made the company independent of purchasing.
After the end of the Second World War, the Heidenau site was dismantled and only partially rebuilt.
Far more significant was Heidenau's development into the seat of the state industrial administration of the paper-producing industry, which brought together almost the entire former Saxon paper industry, as well as the Heidenau Institute for Pulp and Paper, founded in 1951.
