The Spiegel Ericusspitze building is a high-rise in Hamburg's HafenCity district, in the Brooktorkai/Ericus district. It was designed by the Copenhagen-based architectural firm Henning Larsen Architects and has been used as the Spiegel Group's headquarters since 2012.
The 13-story high-rise has a massive base and a gross floor area of approximately 30,000 square meters. The shape of the glass facade is intended to symbolize the setting for the 1,100 Spiegel employees who work here.
At night, the glowing red "Snack Bar" by Verner Panton stands out.
Its counterpart, the Spiegel Canteen, is on display in the Hamburg Museum of Arts and Crafts.
The interior of the building is organized like an atrium, with several bridges providing direct access.
This is intended to promote communication between employees.
The exterior, single-story offices alternate with open spaces twice as high and are connected by interior galleries.
According to the investor, the building's energy and technology concept simultaneously considers ecological, economic, and social aspects.

Air conditioning and conventional radiators were omitted. The indoor climate is regulated by a naturally ventilated double-skin facade with integrated sun protection,
a heating and cooling sail on the ceiling of each office, and a concrete core activation system in the floor slab of each floor powered by the geothermal system.

Thanks to these measures, primary energy consumption is expected to be less than 100 kilowatt hours per square meter per year.

Awesome part of HafenCity! but be careful, for some futuristic and impressive, for others sterile and dead.
