Heidegraben adventure center: With a total area of 1,662 hectares, the Heidengraben is not only the largest Celtic oppidum in Germany, but also one of the largest in Europe. The term "oppidum" for large, city-like, fortified settlements of the late Celts of the 2nd and 1st centuries BC in Central Europe was adopted based on Caesar's description of such facilities of the Celts in Gaul.
