With the foundation of a children's hospital to commemorate his daughter Naemi, who died at the age of 14, the Guben hat manufacturer Friedrich Wilke created the basis for a remarkable development in 1878. Further generous Wilkes foundations made it possible for the facility to expand its area of responsibility to include care for disabled people. The active Christian Wilke transferred his private foundation in 1888 to the Old Lutheran Church in Prussia, which later established a mother deaconess house. The sisters of the Naemi Wilke Foundation looked after numerous medical, social and educational branches within and outside of Brandenburg.

The Naemi-Wilke-Stift (1878) was founded as a private foundation by the Guben hat manufacturer Friedrich Wilke (1829-1908). The foundation is named after Wilke's daughter, Naemi, who died of typhus at the age of 14. In 1888 the foundation was made legally independent and the supervision of the Oberkirchenkollegium (church leadership) of the Lutheran. (Old Lutheran) subordinated to the church.
