The Schelder Forest, also spelled Schelderwald, is an almost entirely forested western foothill of the Gladenbach Uplands in the Lahn-Dill Uplands Nature Park. The 609.4 m above sea level [1] elevation of the Angelburg (mountain), bordering it in the far east and only included in the broader sense, is part of a formerly much higher individual massif that was eroded to its present height over the course of geological history. The so-called Wilhelmsteine survived the erosion as iron-silica hard rocks, a group of rocks up to 15 m high near the Angelburg, which today supports a telecommunications tower.
