January 17, 1945, early morning. Tanks from the 220th rapid reaction group, commanded by Colonel Pashkov, break into Skierniewice occupied by the Germans. The occupiers are surprised and surrender the city almost without a fight. The only loss is a Soviet T-34 tank, in which its entire crew was killed.
Today, these events are commemorated by a monument - a T-34 tank, located on Sienkiewicza Street (near Dworcowa Street). It was probably hit in this place by a German Panzerfaust. There is a plaque on the monument to the fallen tank crew.
